Special Educational Needs
At Great Sampford Primary School we aim to provide the very best care and education for all our children. We strive to promote a supportive, fully inclusive learning environment that meets the individual needs of every learner. We have the highest of expectations for all our staff and children and our aim is ‘Quality First Teaching’ for all. Whilst fully recognising that every child is unique and special we also acknowledge that some children require additional levels of nurture and support that fall outside of the average range of needs. Our aim is to ensure that these children are welcomed into our school community and are afforded the same level of dignity and opportunity to thrive as every other child.
We define a child as having an additional need or disability (AN) if they have a learning difficulty that calls for additional provision to be made for them. Additional provision is defined as being extra to and otherwise different from the educational provision made generally for children of their age in schools maintained by the LA and can include the most able as well as the least able.
We use the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (January 2015) as our framework for fulfilling our responsibilities towards all pupils with AN. The aforementioned document can be found below.
Should you wish to discuss any matter relating to our AN provision or provide feedback to us on our SEND Information Report (which details the provisions specifically available at Great Sampford) please contact the School Office directly and ask to be referred to one of the following people:
SEND Governor - Mrs Gemma Bryant
SENDCo Coordinator - Miss Reis
